I think the best feature of the book are the original quotes by the founding fathers; but was dismayed to find a factual error upon reading the first few chapters. For example; Spignesi erroneously attributes the quote "Liberty; according to my metaphysics is a self determining power in an intellectual agent." to both Alexander Hamilton on page 19 and John Adams on page 33 (it was a quote by John Adams). Also in the chapter on John Adams; there is a quote listed in duplicate (see quotes 66 and 67 on pages 32 and 33) which is an editorial error that should have been identified in the editing process. I was surprised to find this many errors in just the first 35 pages and this concern I now have with the book's factual accuracy will probably prevent me from finishing the rest of the book. It seems like the author and publisher rushed to get this book to print without doing their due diligence in order to capitalize on the Hamilton craze.21 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Fact check the factsBy NoVa FamilyMy son received it for Christmas and we started reading. When it has a beef about the multiracial casting being historically inaccurate at the start and doesn't even get the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence correct (page 31) - it wasn't actually signed until August. It seems like nothing more than a rush to print to capitalize on the musical. It's great to get folks interested in history; but try to at least get your facts correct.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful.
