If you already have the historical background for the Peninsular Campaign then you will find this memoir illuminating. The memoir gives the reader a look at the day to day cares and concerns of a participant in the "great adventure" and a look into the mindset of the British Officer Class during this period in history. Several similar memoirs are available written by officers of the Rifle Brigade; and all I have read so far have been well worth reading.
