The U.S. Navy was at war in the Atlantic long before 7 December 1941; but little is known about that conflict. Mr. Roosevelt’s Navy is a vivid; thoroughly researched account of this undeclared war upon which Franklin Roosevelt embarked in order to sway the desperate Battle of the Atlantic in favor of Britain’s hard-pressed Royal Navy. Not only is this book a history of the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic Fleet and its impact on German-American strategy and diplomacy prior to and immediately following American entry into World War II; but it is also a lively account of the muted battles and endless patrols that were the pattern of life for American sailors in the cold; gray Atlantic. First published in 1975; the book is now available in paperback.

Well presentedBy Grndmaofn8The book helps take the massive tragedy of the Holocaust down to a personal perspective to allow the reader to see the time as if there alongside him. As a mother and grandmother; it is difficult to realize how young he was and what an amazing testimony to divine intervention to keep him alive to tell the story. Thank you for the courage to bring this to those who come behind you.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Touching story that breaks your heartBy BillThis young man was transformed from a normal; happy; loving childhood into a most dismal and miserable nightmare. His story is heartbreaking but his amazing resolve pulls him through at the end. He alone survives from his former family - and his mother foretold this in her last words to him. Very moving story.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Biographies from SurvivorsBy alicia beckwithI enjoyed reading this book. It is one of the many WWII; Holocaust survivor books I've enjoyed. Another one to read is The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.
