Also the primary focus is on Christianity in Western Europe; and he devotes a small chapter to Byzantium and Islam. I disagreed with his section on the Crusades; however he makes a very good case against its importance in the medieval world. I personally think he should have included more on Byzantium and Eastern Europe; and he also makes a big deal of Innocent III. Stylistically; the book is entertaining to read at times; and this is supposed to be a textbook! Overall; it's pretty solid.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
