A good summary of Oman's History of the Peninsular WarBy A CustomerI haven't quite finished this book yet but what I have read so far indicates a decent and balanced summary of Oman's monumental work. Paddy Griffith has assembled a team of largely well-established Napoleonic historians to make their own commentaries on Oman's work and I find it helpful to have read this book first before ploughing thru Oman's 7-vol work.7 of 23 people found the following review helpful. More hornblowing and trumpeting.By HornblowerWant to taste jingoism? Read this book. Want to know how a biased book reads? Buy it. "God Save the Queen;" but not Paddy Griffith!Griffith; take my advice and take a course in objectivity and professionalism from J. Elting and G. Nafziger before you grind out your next book.
