ebooks A New Apostolic Reformation?: A Biblical Response to a Worldwide Movement by R.Douglas Geivett; Holly Pivec in History

Description

• Published to accompany an outstanding exhibition at the Palace of Versailles; July 5 – October 17; 2016This catalog is a collective work bringing together contributions from French; American; and British specialists in this field; to shed light on the importance of the relationship between France and America in the closing years of the Ancien Régime.During the reign of Louis XVI; the Palace of Versailles - the seat of power and government in France - played a crucial role in the history of America; in its struggle for independence; and in the recognition of the United States by the great European powers. In tracing this remarkable story; the catalog demonstrates the constant interest displayed in the fledgling United States by the French monarchy.Richly illustrated throughout; it documents the events of the War of Independence; before exploring the consequences of the entry of France into the war; the siege of Yorktown; and the peace treaty signed at Versailles in 1783. Finally; it analyzes the origins and development of the mythology of the 'American Revolution' in both France and the United States; a source of enduring inspiration for artists and history painters.

Get for the Lost SheepBy drDGreat piece of work on those claiming to be "prophets" and "apostles" (hint- there aren't any new ones) in the modern day "church." I had some family members become involved in this odd movement; and take me to their very unusual church for a while until I left. This book sums up why it is wrong; what odd beliefs many of them have; etc. This is also good for people who might be in the pews scratching their head thinking "why is this person saying this?" It is a good tool to give to people trapped in it. Geivett and Pivec go into great detail about why there are no new apostles; etc. They also expose many of the strange doctrines being taught; and some of the linkage between different "churches" who have the same ideas.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Pentecostal Must Read!By Jeffrey D HubbardThis book is so important. I attended a church in this movement in 2009 thinking that it was an Assemblies of God church. I was a bible college student at the time so I had professors who could help me process some of the odd behaviors that I was witnessing. This book does the same thing and every pastor; especially Pentecostals and Charismatics should read this. As a Pentecostal pastor I believe these authors are very fair to Pentecostals; Charismatics and Vineyard views.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful.
