That IN SPITE OF all of the turmoil in our lives. There's a woman in this book who pre-dated Madame C.J. Walker by 100 years; and yet had a conglomerate hair products company; right on these shores. Free women were teaching slaves to read; and how to comport themselves properly for the day when they; too; would be free. There's so much real history that's hidden; left out and disregarded; in order to maintain the status quo. This book peels all of that away. Everyone who wants to know the truth about Black women should read it. Dr. Hine has a great collection of work; and I'm sure she's not finished yet.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
