It is not for the novice just beginning to be interested in Hinduism. While I read the volume straight through; it is probably better used as a reference volume since many of the chapters are clearly delineated on certain topics and in general can be read in isolation from other chapters and still make sense.Klostermaier has clearly done his share of research and for the serious student of Hindu thought this is an important volume that should be read an compared with other similar volumes. However; I think that some other books in the same strain; such as Julius Lipner's are easier to read and just as well researched. A valiant attempt to be comprehensive of which it comes as close as any probably can when it comes to Hindu thought a solid; academic study.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
