Ava Gardner; one of the very few of Hollywood's Natural Beauty's-No make-up needed on this incredible woman...By The dude 814Even though this didn't give you all of the great insights that Grobel's book gave you about the wonderful Ava Gardner; it was still an interesting read. I know one thing; I wish I could have stepped into the shoes of just one of her lovers just for one night! That's all I ask; and I will be a completed man! Ha! But she was a natural beauty; at least from all of the the books and pictures and personal interviews of those around her that I read. And why she wasted herself on that bimbo Sinatra is beyond me. Must have been his "natural features" that attracted her; and those of you who read Grobel's book know what I mean...ha! But he did take care of her in her last years here on earth so I have to give him that...not many would provide for an x-wife the way he did (I know I am not! Only the pictures are reliable and I'm not sure about themBy Audrey from PhillyUnfortunately; there is no point in reading this error-laden so-called biography of Ava Gardner because it may be entirely fictional. Early in the essay the uncredited writer says that Gardner's mother died of breast cancer on the day she got her divorce. Near the end of text it says Gardner got a hysterectomy to prevent the uterine cancer that killed her mother. This is just one clear-cut example. There is no excuse. Another easy to find example: it also gives two versions of the title of her autobiography ("Ava:Her Story" "Ava:My Story"). It might be fun to read in a "spot-the-error" challenge; but as a teacher I'd have to give an 'F.'0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A nice book about Ava.By Joel R. WiseShe was a interesting women. I saw all the movies she was in when I was younger. I always thought she was so beautiful. I was surprised to learn from the book about how she had to struggle to get to what she became;a famous movie star. Once again Charles rivers come through with a easy to read biography of a famous movie personality. Highly recommend.
