This is a professionally edited and typed version of the classic book; NOT a blurred facsimilie of the book. Buddhism is a religion and philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions; beliefs and practices; largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama; commonly known as the Buddha (Pali/Sanskrit "the awakened one"). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent some time between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE. He is recognized by Buddhists as an awakened or enlightened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering (or dukkha); achieve nirvana; and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth.

She was the most down to earth woman anyone could ever hope to meet; which is something one would not expect from a person of her stature. She treated me; a fireman's son; as though I was as important as any of the individuals she had ever met. She hung on my every word; and asked questions showing that she was listening to each and every word I said. I was so proud to be her friend and be able to visit her in her glamorous NYC apartment on E 64th Street (we played gin rummy regularly...for money...at her insistence...LOL!); as well as talk to her on the phone each week; exchange letters; and get special backstage passes to see her after her cabaret shows. This is a great read; designed for the commuter; so that one could finish her life story while commuting to their jobs. There are a few factual errors...the most glaring; for example...Kitty bought her apartment in the 1970s for approximately $400;000.00; which was a lot of money for the time; not after a romance with a paramour in the 2000s. When she passed; the apartment was sold by her children for a whopping $12;200;000.00! Even though this is a small novella; I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about this fabulous lady. I miss her to this day!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Informative!By Don KidwellMaybe not the most exciting life story I've read; but from knowing little or nothing about the lady at first I did learn quite a few things. Interesting to know that in her early film career she starred with Lucille Ball and Big Crosby and that she might have married George Gershwin at one time. Noteworthy for her long standing appearance on the game show "To Tell the Truth" and her cameo in the film "Catch Me If You Can" which I did enjoy and now have reason to want to re-watch. Good book and will finish with one final passage I enjoyed; "Your mind is your house. Furnish it!"1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
