Air warfare but with impact and that's just in getting back to the boat and landing. Loved the character development. The world of carrier aviation. Cracking Good Story!By Jeff O'ByrneCracking good story! Unique in two ways: first; this is the only pilot story that I've read in which the author was in his terminal grade. The perspective is that of an experienced junior officer. Much context is unquestioned as 'above my paygrade'. This is right and proper and distinctive from Gillcrist; Olds et al who's long careers after active combat flying produced a different perspective. The second unique feature in this book is the detailed discussion of the tightly integrated A-6 flight crew. The relationship between the pilot and the bombardier/navigator differed from other multi-place aircraft. In this flight crew for example; the B/N is senior to the pilot and qualified to lead wing level strikes. The author and pilot is a grade junior and during certain phases of the mission the control of the flight is in the hands of the B//N. Hunt tells it like it is aboard a CV during not only combat ops but "routine" cyclic ops. He takes the reader into squadron life and into the cockpit. This book is the best description of the marriage between the Pilot and B/N and the coordination of cockpit duties I have ever read. As one with over 20 years in Naval Aviation; this book also explains why we need not only aircraft carriers but also a dedicated carrier based all weather medium bomber. Angles of Attack is a MUST READ for those looking for a real world insight to carrier aviation.
