Witty and InspiringBy M LoveyAn autobiography written about the author's life during the Great Depression detailing in a very funny and touching way the myriad of small admin jobs with lecherous old bosses and a few other quirky ones that she and her sister did to support their family. The descriptions of her family life are also witty and endearing. I highly enjoyed this book and found that her inspiring words still endure to the present day. If you've ever known how hard it can be sometimes to find the right job; or even harder; the right career; then this book is for you.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Love the story; but use caution if reading to children or youthsBy G. YoderI am in the middle of this book; and absolutely love it. It is enjoyable and light-hearted; and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny! Depending on your convictions and tastes; it would not be friendly for little ears; so use caution when reading it aloud to the family. I would recommend this book to others.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. British-isms????By Reading JunkieWhat's with all the British words and spelling variations? Did post the British version for American audiences?? If so; I'd like the American version; please. Betty was an American writer; and that should be reflected in the book. Otherwise; it's good. A little of Mary Bard goes a long way; though...
