Veronie IIThe author certainly sounds the death knell for "Creationism/Intelligent Design" with a wide scope of logically arrived-at conclusions. The Atheist Universe is a cohesive thought process of common sense and rational thought that presents religion as what it is--the mythology of the ages. It's quite a shame that most of the world still clings to these ridiculous notions...this book should be required reading the world over. Perhaps the battle for souls would not lose so many lives.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Better than I expected.By Jonah D. ConnerI've read many books on atheism and this book was much better than expected. Very understandable and includes many arguments and ideas that I'd never heard before. I figured it would be pretty much like other books on the topic but I was pleasantly surprised. It focuses on evolution/intelligent design but covers a fairly wide range of topics; from hell to pornography.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. AN ATHEISTS WORLD REVEALEDBy Robert WilliamsI ran across this book almost by accident but am really glad I found it. In an easy to read style of writing; David Mills knocks Christian fundamentalism out of the box and tells us in a no nonsense manner just exactly why it fails.Although Mills is a self styled atheist; he was once a fervently religious Baptist; "selling" the Bible to all those who would stop to listen. But then; at an early age he discovered; after careful study of Christian-apologist writer's books that all their arguments boiled down to; "We know the Bible is true because it's the Bible". In 11 chapters and 255 pages; Mills breaks down and destroys all the Creationist and IDers (Intelligent Design) arguments against Evolution and for the existance of God.Creationists believe in a literal translation of the Bible. That the earth and universe were created in 6 days 6000 years ago and that Adam and Eve were the first humans that lived on earth 4000 years ago. Mills points out the many conflicts and discrepancies that occur in the NT Bible. For instance; on P.146 the genealogy of Christ back from David is listed. Matthew lists 28 ancestors; while Luke lists 43 ancestors; and they are not the same people. Mills also points out that if some material in the Bible is wrong; how can we depend on the rest of it to be true? The Atheist Universe is a very interesting well written and well researched book that will turn off many Christians. However; the rest of us can explore the atheist's world and how it differs from Christian Fundamentalism.
