Austrian Commanders of the Napoleonic Wars 1792–1815 (Elite)

audiobook Austrian Commanders of the Napoleonic Wars 1792–1815 (Elite) by David Hollins in History

Description

Hussar Rocca. War to the death against the British and the Spanish guerrillas. Hussar Rocca gives an account of the Peninsular Campaign from an entirely different perspective. Albert Rocca was an officer of Napoleon's 2nd Regiment of Hussars. For him Spain was not just alien but totally hostile as well. Where British chroniclers of the Peninsula berate the qualities of the Spanish armies; Rocca knew that his life was constantly under threat from not only the enemy armies but also from a population who would kill an unwary or isolated Frenchman in a moment. This is a riveting account made more readable in this Leonaur edition by reworking a previously clumsy translation.

Good for historians; collectors; great for wargamers.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Austro- Hungarian generalsBy Robert A.; ShoafI was looking forward to this work; and while I found the text to be informative and interesting; the same cannot be said of the color plates. The uniform plates of Christopher Rothero are very poor; in my opinion; and pale in comparison to those in earlier Osprey volumes on the Austro-Hungarian Army by Brian Fosten. It would be at least 4 stars with better uniform plates. Very disappointing.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy John William LewisAnother excellent Osprey title
