Babylonia: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)

ePub Babylonia: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions) by Trevor Bryce in History

Description

A detailed account by an American sociologist of the riots between Muslims and Hindus in Bengal; Bihar; the United Provinces; Punjab; and Bombay that led to the partition of the sub-continent and the establishment of Pakistan and India. Written shortly after the events; it is based on interviews; actual observation of events including the accompaniment of police on efforts at control; official reviews; and detailed newspaper coverage. It is important and has been widely quoted both for its analysis of the sub-continent and for what it contributes to the analysis of urban riots more generally.

Exactly what I wantedBy Daniel MarinoOne of the better titles in this series that I have read. Picked up a copy at the British Museum in London a few days ago after spending hours looking at various Mesopotamian artifacts. Bryce did a good job of giving a general overview of the Babylonian civilization in a fast paced and comprehensible way. Glad I picked it up and now feel that I have some familiarity with the subject.
