The J79 powered Mach 2 Supertiger derivative of the F-11F was developed into a world class performer and was marketed as such. It impressed the foreign aviators so that it became their first choice. That is until the political-financial giant known as Lockheed wielded its weight world wide. Lockheed's F-104 eventually dominated world sales; but was never a safe and sane choice as history would prove.

GrahamI arrived late in the Korean War; learned a great deal from this book that I knew nothing of at the time; nor since; until reading it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An excellent book about the forgotten victory.By CustomerWhat little I know of this war I learned from watching M.A.S.H. of television. That is to say I knew next to nothing about it at all. Now I learned quite a bit about it from reading this book. For example; I know that the Chinese fought the Americans in the Korean War; but I didn't know why or that the Chinese tried to warn the Americans off beforehand. I also learned from this nonfiction book that the Inchon invasion was leaked to the press; and the North Koreans months before it happened. Only shoddy intelligence gathering on the part of the North Koreans made the invasion so effective.I also learned from The Battle for Korea that the American sevicemen and women were caught completely unawares at the start of the Korean War; and that our anti-tank bazookas were ineffective against the T-34 tank equipped North Koreans. But this book doesn't just contain military history it is also about politicians and reporters also; and if I were to rate this book I would rate it PG-13.
