It covers the Summer 1940 "Battle of Britain" in which the outnumbered British RAF; fighting alone in the skies over England stopped the German attempts to gain air supremacy and be able to invade the British Isles. It's a very well drawn and produced book. Images are colorful and accurate. It is well written in the fact is tells the true story in a very simplified manner in words understandable by anyone of the modern 21st century world; even those with no prior knowledge of the Second World War and the birth and expansion of Fascism. As a retired history teacher as well as aviation historian; I feel this book is ideal for that reason alone! It's not a comic book! There are no over-the-top hero or villain characters...just many of the actual persons from history accurately presented. My only personal complaint is that there is no in depth details on the outcome of some events or issues presented...but; in all honesty...that would be out of the scope of what his book was meant to do. If the reader wants more information; it's up to them to pursue their own investigations! This book is simply meant to perhaps inspire that curiousity in any reader.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic book!!By As2014This is a fantastic graphic history of the British; German; and later on; American battles in the skies of WWII. It shows the experiences of 3 spesific pilots; one from each country. It shows the British German campaigns in the Battle of Britain(1940); and then goes on to show the allied bombing campaign against Germany(1943-1945). The only minor problem with the book is the way the pages are laced toghether. In other words; the pages rip VERY easily. But still; the book is exelent.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great story and art; slipshod workmanshipBy KevinThe binding came apart after a second gentle reading. The story and graphics are great; the paper quality is fine; but the binding is chinsy. It was a real disappointment with what was otherwise a great gift for a 10 year old boy's birthday.
