Description

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib is one of the most revered and respected figures in Islamic history. His words are enshrined everywhere from works of religious scholarship to publications of the United Nations. Early in the 11th century; the Muslim scholar Al-Shareef Al-Radi collected the sermons; sayings; and letters of Imam Ali and published them in the book The Peak of Eloquence. Ayatollah Chamseddine’s work –The Course of History: A Study in the Peak of Eloquence – is a study of Imam Ali’s method and discourse. The book takes a look into Imam Ali’s brilliant use of history in his engagement with society; as a statesman; spiritual leader; and private citizen.

Love the BEASTBy Nick OuwerkerkThe book is very good for racing enthusiasts and covers a lot of the behind the scenes trials and tribulations that were part of developing the engine. The book chronicles the project from the concept phase through the final results at Indy with amazing details about the failures; risks and human commitment to the project. The book also covers the sanctioning body and competitors view of what was going on and how it was seen in their eyes. The readers get a sense of being close to the project while understanding the huge risk of failure that drove the group. The testimony from the drivers who had to drive the BEAST were very telling as to how much of an advantage the engine gave them over the competition. That never comes out on TV or live at the events. Only can that be explained through the eyes of the drivers after reflecting on the experience.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Backstory; Personalities and Tension of Big League RacingBy M PooleIn 'BEAST'; Jade does a great job of capturing the backstory; personalities and tension in the Penske camp. The 1994 Indy 500 may well turn out to be the high-water mark of the Indy 500 and Indycar racing; and Jade puts you right in the Penske garage. I was part of the PR team that supported Mercedes at the Speedway in 1994. Mercedes brought a scruffy bunch of German F-1 journalists to Indy for qualifying. They wouldn't attend the 500 because Indy was scheduled for the same day as the F-1 race in Barcelona. It turned out that the Germans were mostly interested in American shopping malls; and eating and drinking courtesy of Mercedes. They were rude; and disrespectful of Indy's heritage. We were happy to see the journalists disappear after qualifying; back to Europe with Mercedes Motorsports Director Norbert Haug (called him Norbert Huge); and PR Director Wolfgang Schattling. Winning the 500 and earning a ring was a memorable experience. If you're interested in the technical; competitive and human side of big league motorsports; you must read 'BEAST'.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. High management skills are needed in all aspect in MotorsportBy czilvetiThe history of a so successful project; well written; fully detailed; probably one of the best management books I read this year.It has every ingredient you need to reach management; shortcomings; failures; short timing; high risk and the big reward for a team at the end. Then we see the intriguers working behind the scenes; their role in history; the bad consequences. A must read book.
