The life and times of Elizabeth Keckley and The Lincoln Whitehouse and beyondBy Carol BallantyneAfter reading Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker; I wanted more information about Elizabeth Keckley and more insight into her life. I very much enjoyed reading her own account. She was very loyal to Mary Todd Lincoln who from all accounts was difficult and Elizabeth was very kind and generous to her. Not too many people would have been able to put up with Mrs. Lincoln and it was a shame that she turned on Elizabeth. Of course; Mrs. Lincoln had mental difficulties so Elizabeth suffered on account of it. I just hope Elizabeth had some joy before she died as life was not great for her. She was taken advantage of and she died poor and alone. My heart goes out to her. A movie should me made about her life!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful life storyBy C.
