Recommended for history and humanity lessons.By Leonard D.Very nice book about a story that you hardly (if ever) hear: how a tiny country - Albania - in Europe saved all the Jews that took shelter there during WWII. Book has current photos of some of those who saved Jewish people and put their lives at risk for doing so while occupied by Nazi Germany.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A poignant time in historyBy Marcia MiloseBesa; the Albanian code of honor; was introduced to me by an Albanian tour guide. In the horrific modern day relations between Jews and Muslims; this poignant book offers hope and a reminder that religions can offer one another respect and can peacefully co-exist on our planet.12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. I would've changed "Muslims" by "Albanians"By Frank GThe title is self explanatory but it can be a bit misleading. Besa is not exclusive to Alabamians of Islam religion but to all the Albanians. Nevertheless as you go through the stories and pictures on the book you quick realize that all the saviors who provided shelter to Jews during WW2 were muslim. Hence; when looked strictly from the perspective of the author and the stories on the book the title seems right; even though I would've changed "muslims" by "albanians".A little note about the shipping: I received my fist book little bit messed up during shipping that's why I ordered the second one. I dint want to get bothered with RMA and I am glad I have two copies.
