These guys were amazing!By Wayne GIf you enjoy the "Band of Brothers" collection you will love this book from the commander himself. If you haven't read or seen any of these books or movies; this is a very tactical book which examines the emotions of combat in a somewhat detached manner. A good portion of the last part of the book involves the author explaining his idea of leadership. The story starts slowly but picks up pace toward the middle then drags down again at the end.Even with some weakness in writing and structure I still very much enjoyed this book.I am still in awe of how these brave men accomplished what they did.All in all a very good book. I would recommend it.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great history of a job well done!By CustomerJust the best reading experienced for someone who has been in combat. Amazed that a person can keep notes of events of combat.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Band of Brother Leader In his Words....By Renato DiscenzaIf you are a fan of "Band of Brothers"; the HBO series based on the exploits of Easy Company in WWII you will definitely enjoy this book.Written in an easy narrative style; Dick Winters takes you through the stories of his journey as Easy Company leader in the 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR); The stories are very familiar to those who have watched the series. However there a a few more stories and background details that did not make it into the series. It would be hard to see anybody who has interest in WWII not enjoying this book. The veterans of WWII are passing away quickly. Dick Winters himself passed a couple af years ago. First hand accounts of this type of warfare will become increasing rare. There are important leadership lessons throughout the book as well that transcend just wartime. Worth the read.
