Beyond Sex Roles: What the Bible Says about a Woman's Place in Church and Family

ebooks Beyond Sex Roles: What the Bible Says about a Woman's Place in Church and Family by Gilbert Bilezikian in History

Description

In Temples of Ancient Egypt; five distinguished scholars―Dieter Arnold; Lanny Bell; Ragnhild Bjerre Finnestad; Gerhard Haeny; and Byron E. Shafer―here summarize the state of current knowledge about ancient Egyptian temples and the rituals associated with their use. The first volume in English to survey the major types of Egyptian temples from the Old Kingdom to the Roman period; it offers a unique perspective on ritual and its cultural significance. The authors perceive temples as loci for the creative interplay of sacred space and sacred time. They regard as unacceptable the traditional division of the temples into the categories of "mortuary" and "divine;" believing that their functions and symbolic representations were; at once; too varied and too intertwined.

Some good content but not well put together.By Isaac ReppertThis book has some very good content. That said; it is not well put together and a number of the arguments are not well made. My opinion is that it is too much trouble to sort through the book for what you get out of it. Again; some great content; but its not written well enough to bother with.1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great way of looking at gender rolesBy Charles AresonThis gives a excellent overview on the roles men and women play in society. It explains misunderstood passages of scripture and places then in proper light historically. My one regret is that I purchased the kindle version; It is harder to share that way.
