Boeing 747: A History: Delivering the Dream

ebooks Boeing 747: A History: Delivering the Dream by Martin W. Bowman in History

Description

Osprey's study of one of the decisive battles of the French and Indian War (1754-1763). On 5 July 1758 General Abercromby's expedition against Fort Carillon set off from its camp. Within hours; tragedy struck. Some rangers ran into a French scouting party and in the fierce skirmish that followed Lord Howe; the darling of the army; was shot through the heart. The army was shattered at the loss; but Abercromby went to pieces. He decided to attack Montcalm's completed breastworks head-on. Battalion after battalion was sacrificed; the most famous of these hopeless assaults being that of the Black Watch. With the failure of his plan and the exhaustion of his army Abercromby retreated to the foot of Lake George – Montcalm had saved Canada; with Abercromby's help.

Mostly a cobbling together of other people's stuff. Boring photos for the most part. A disappointment for a true aficionado of the 747. Not worth the money.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent book on Boeings 747By D. CovingtonExcellent book on Boeings 747; it's developmental history and use; etc. It's as if the other two reviews are reviewing a different book. This is a new book; first printed in Great Brtain in 2014 and the phtographs are sharp and clear; withstanding moderate magnification easily. Now the pictures that are from the 1960s are not as high of resolution as todays are but are still clear. Many of the older photographs used at the beginning of the story and black and white but that is what a lot of phtographs where in those days. They cover through the 747-8I which is the current version today with a bunch of orders left on the table (50+).3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I liked the over-all format of the bookBy John G.I liked the over-all format of the book; a lot of great details and things I never knew before; but on the other hand; it does have a few short-comings. I found multiple errors in facts; and although I liked the photos in the book; the quality of the photos was not good. It is still worth buying and adding to your collection. Over-all; I like the book; and am glad to have it in my library.
