I really liked it.By Steven LohrAll history is through the filter of time but I believe Hintzen has tried to minimize the "bias drift" as much as possible. There is so much we don't know about this period even though many have written about it. This is a well written and researched book and should be part of any collection of works dealing with the sweeping changes after the French and Indian wars. I would not call it exhaustive by any criteria because there are broader cultural issues on a global scale that are part of the dynamics but would mostly distract from this treatment of the raw and very dangerous lives of those who acted on those circumstances for their own personal motives. I believe William Hintzen has achieved a worthy document that struggles with the conflicting information that comes to us from a time of mortal conflict; illiteracy; stress; pain and transcendent endurance.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. However; other sources seem to gloss over some of the events of this period without going into much detail. The dark and deadly frontier!By mickey DranI liked this book;had lots of the heros that i have grown to know through pages of books.this is a bllody book as the indian wars were on the borders;very well written for sure and I put another book down when I got this one and then could not stop!!very good book! another kick-ass rating!!
