NagyA well researched and well written book on Indian religion and Buddhist history. Sadly Buddhism is largely extinct from the Continent; except for perhaps the Tibetan refugee and Government in exile. India now is Hindu and Muslim; with the Muslim religion outpacing the Hindu due to their uncontrolled birthrate and lack of family planning. The book has a great chapter on Asoka who embraced Buddhism and did a great service to it. The chapter on pali books also very illuminating. (written on palm leafs.) This book is available online for free. Check it out for yourself; do not take my word for it.1 of 7 people found the following review helpful. 100 yr oldBy JohnA37This text is over 100 years old; do not spend your money on this dated book.
