They note that the sons of darkness are cunning; ruthless; wealthy and equally powerful as the sons of light. The tragedy is that Christians are being duped into fighting on the wrong side. Thank God that Joseph Atwill had the courage and capacity to speak out about it. There is a Roman purpose for the NT; although; it is well hidden under symbolism; contradictory text and mind-control. Was Jesus a pro-Roman traitor to his nation or have words been put in into his mouth to serve Roman domination and control? Jesus is a composite of many messianic figures; twisted to be pro-Roman and mystical (so that Paul's imagination can control them.) Paul may have had a Jewish mother; but he doesn’t understand Judaism. In I Cor. 9:20; he informs readers that he became a Jew that he might win the Jews; so he admits that he was not raised as a practicing Jew. Paul's father may have been a (Greco-Arab) Herodian; as Eisenman suggests. Why does Paul greet Nero's secretary Epaphroditus (Philippians) and call him a "fellow soldier?" Why does he greet Aristobulas;grandson of Herod the Great (Romans) and the household of Caesar (Philippians?) Personally; I think Paul was a Roman soldier/intelligence cfficer in deep cover. His writing used brainwashing techniques that were representative of a military mindset. His writing also demonstrates destructive hostility toward the Jewish people disguised under rhetoric of love. In I Thessalonians 5:5; he is answering the Dead Sea Scroll description of the Roman soldiers as sons of darkness; and; in fact; I believe the whole NT is an "answer" to the patriotic Israelites. I agree with Mr. Atwill that the NT is an attempt to legitimatize Roman bullying and stealing of the land; wealth and sacred identity of the Jewish people. Even if I don't agree with every detail of Mr. Atwill's thesis; I find his analysis brilliant! His book does to Roman Christianity what the Roman soldiers did to the Jewish Temple!.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Read only if you can deal with the subjectBy M. StoneThis book is one of those types of books you want to tell people about because it's so different from anything you will ever read regarding the Gospels. Before you do tell someone about it; make sure they are open to the subject. Pretty controversial stuff enclosed. I tend to keep this kind of topic close to the vest myself. It does answer some questions I've had over the years. I have ordered me a copy of Wars of the Jews to cross reference the various verses.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Knowing the truth starts by asking "Why."By 93KFWonderful book. Really interesting. The implications are enormous. If this book is true; then the foundations of Christianity; and by extension Islam are completely discredited.
