Franklin's commentary and his extensive examination of the Library of Congress's archives presents an excellent book that refutes those who seek to take God out of the equation in the founding of our republic. He traces the nation's Christian heritage from pre-colonial times to the Civil War. Those who have attempted to re-write the Christian influence in our history will not find this book an important document. On the contrary; Franklin uses extensive research; especially in the personal documents and commentaries of the Founders.Unfortunately; the primary resource material has lost it original documentation. With a little work those documents could easily be found through a little research. The thousand page book has extremely long quotations from sermons; speeches; and prayers. (I would have slept through some of those prayers which might have lasted an hour.)For those who want to read about the Founders and the importance of faith in the first century of our nation will find this enlightening. Beware progressives; sometimes truth is more revealing than some of the fabrications found in some modern U.S. history textbooks. Great insight by one of our very early Supreme Court ...By DavidGreat insight by one of our very early Supreme Court Judges that unfortunately gets left out of today's higher education curriculum's because it doesn't fit the progressive worldview and liberals re-write of our history. A must read for any serious judicial or political science student. Puts to rest the argument against divine providence and the faiths of our forefathers.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. a must readBy L. CraftNot close to finishing.
