I purchased this as a gift for my father to share with my younger siblings and they are extremely pleased.By RIIThroughout the years my father and I have seen a number of books that covered this subject matter. After reviewing the Civil Rights Chronicle; we both agreed that this was one of the most thorough and thoughtful presentations on the subject matter. I purchased this as a gift for my father to share with my younger siblings and they are extremely pleased.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Civil rights referenceBy D. MaloneA book I think should be in every public and school library. No one book tells all or could include every incident and every hero or villian but this book did its best. It captures the feel of the times with photos and written material. Author gave an objective perspective naming the names; the issues and their timelines without commentary. (I put the labels on the saints and the sinners) A lot of the events I remembered but I didn't know the "back story" and some I never had heard of. It was a great source of information for discussion on facing our fears; who stood up; and why did it take a struggle for civil rights.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Reference and RemembranceBy QsealThis book has great information for any student of recent American History. I was a child during the 50's and 60's in Montgomery; Alabama and the book has reminded me of many events that shaped my community and my outlook on life in the USA. This is a great source of information that was not available in our newspapers and history books.
