Clara's War: One Girl's Story of Survival

audiobook Clara's War: One Girl's Story of Survival by Clara Kramer; Stephen Glantz in History

Description

Arguably one of the most provocative; puzzling; and misunderstood organizations of medieval times; the legendary Knights Templar have always been shrouded in a veil of mystery; while inspiring popular culture from Indiana Jones to Dan Brown. In The Templars; author Michael Haag offers a definitive history of these loyal Christian soldiers of the Crusades—sworn to defend the Holy Land and Jerusalem; but ultimately damned and destroyed by the Pope and his church. A bestseller in the United Kingdom—the first history of the enigmatic warriors to include findings from the Chinon Parchment; the long-lost Vatican document absolving the Knights of heresy—The Templars by Michael Haag is fascinating reading.

This family's determination to survive against insurmountable odds was an inspiration. It's one of those books that continues to come to mind days; weeks; and even months after I've finished reading it. When I have the luxury of eating at a restaurant and choosing whatever I want to eat; then leaving part of it because it was too much...I think of Clara and others hiding in that crawlspace and how even a portion of what I'm leaving would have been manna from heaven for them! In addition to the inspiration I got from this book; it also helps me to recognize how grateful we should be for the little things we take for granted. I would highly recommend this book!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The strength of human spirit.By CustomerClara's story is a reminder of the awful situations experienced during the Holocaust; but the desire to live can never be denied. It is a story of families; related by need and love; in a dark time in human history. It is also a celebration of determination and deliverance.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
