Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Harriet Ross; 1820 – March 10; 1913) was an African-American abolitionist; humanitarian; and Union spy during the American Civil War. Born into slavery; Tubman escaped and subsequently made more than thirteen missions to rescue more than 70 slaves using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. She later helped John Brown recruit men for his raid on Harpers Ferry; and in the post-war era struggled for women's suffrage. Sarah Hopkins Bradford (1818 - 1912) was an American writer and historian; best known today for her two pioneering biography books on Harriet Tubman. Most of her work consists of children's literature.

Another great work in the Misean tradition. I always enjoy his work; but almost as satisfying as his works are the bibliographies; which are a treasure trove of valuable readings on classical liberalism. This book itself is a fairly quick read; but is packed to the gills with information. The format is a bit choppy; but again it is essays; and not a contiguous linear work on the entire history of the Austrian School or liberalism itself. Furthermore; this book in and of itself is not necessarily intended to be an exhaustive history or general narrative. It is instead various essays on specific topics and individuals with the overall theme. Overall; certainly an entertaining; interesting; and valuable read. Of course; it goes without saying that if more people understood the concepts discussed herein; what a peace-loving; freedom-loving; wonderful world this would be.As an aside; for those who are unfamiliar with Austrian Economics and classical liberalism (modern libertarianism); I recommend "Mises.org" for an explanation; recommended reading lists; academic content; and commentary on current events.THANKSThanks for reading my review.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. An Unknown Story To RediscoverBy Alessandro FusilloProf. Raico's deep knowledge of liberalism will give the reader a very interesting insight into the great tradition of the classical liberal thought. Grand thinkers like De Molinari; Dunoyer; Richter remind us that liberalism is not only a - largely forgotten - tradition but maybe a hope for the future and an escape path from the procustean bed of the mainstream welfare-warfare "democratic" state and its "intellectual bodyguard". An impeccable bibliography is a valuable tool for anyone interested in further reading. A must read for convinced "Austrian liberals" but even more for the vast majority who never heard of the Austrian School of Economics or the great liberal thinkers of the nineteenth century.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great summation of Classic LiberalismBy CopernicusIn the time that I have to write a review; I just don't feel that I can do this work justice. It's an exhaustive and intellectually pleasing view into the history of Classical Liberalism. If you are interested in the Libertarian philosophy; this is a great starting point.
