Colonial American History: The Essential Story

DOC Colonial American History: The Essential Story by Dr. Robert Owens in History

Description

The three most fundamental works on the nature of war are Sun Tzu's "The Art of War;" Machiavelli's "The Prince;" and Clausewitz's "On War." This collection is the ultimate guide to military strategy for strategic thinkers; generals; and heads of state. This edition is limited to 1;000 copies. "The Art of War" is an ancient Chinese military treatise by Sun Tzu; a high-ranking military general; strategist and tactician. It has had an influence on Eastern and Western military thinking; business tactics; legal strategy and beyond. "The Prince" examines the reasons that Kings; Emperors; Dukes and governments have thrived or crumbled; while suggesting a set of principles that any leader would find difficult to follow; but impossible to ignore. "On War" is a book on military strategy by Prussian general Carl von Clausewitz; written mostly after the Napoleonic wars. It is one of the most important treatises on political-military analysis and strategy ever written; and remains both controversial and an influence on strategic thinking.

Great work; should be a standard for schools to teach the facts about colonial times.By Rick OThis was a great; concise description of the REAL American Colonial History. Interesting to learn the American Indians were not savages as often depicted; but very sophisticated; with trade routes; cities; etc. The many different countries vieing for the new world land had so many conflicts... amazing the country pulled together with so many different backgrounds. Makes one wonder why we can't continue accepting new immigrants and keeping the melting pot going. The book is a great work. I could see this being a quick Primer for schools to use; giving the facts about those historical times.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good stories; but...By Mark SutterEven though this book is quite short the stories are informative and entertaining. However; the book needs some serious attention by an editor. There were dozens of spelling and grammatical errors that could have been corrected by paying a college English major a few hundred dollars. In almost every case; I found the need to go back over what I had just read to make sure I understood what the author was really trying to say.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
