PDF Common Men in the War for the Common Man: The Civil War of the United States of America-History of the 145th Pennsylvania Volunteers From Organization through Gettysburg by Dr. Verel R. Salmon in History

Description

In The New American Zionism; Theodore Sasson challenges the conventional view of waning American Jewish support for Israel. Instead; he shows that we are in the midst of a shift from a "mobilization" approach; which first emerged with the new state and focused on supporting Israel through big; centralized organizations; to an "engagement" approach marked by direct and personal relations with the Jewish state.

Great Book!!By Bill RuttenbergDr. Salmon has done an excellent job of putting together this history of the 145th Pennsylvania Volunteers during the Civil War. His massive amount of research on several of the soldiers from the Erie; Pennsylvania area comes through in his writing. This is a great way to honor his great grandfather who fought in the Civil War with the 145th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He does an excellent job of letting the soldiers tell their own story through his extensive use of their personal diaries; letters; and other primary sources. This is definitely the story of the common men who fought America's greatest war. Great work Dr. Salmon!Mr. R0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Uncommonly good read!By Sandra BowmanOnce you begin reading this book it's difficult to put down! The letters are captivating; especially the relationships between soldier and wife. There were so many hardships on both sides. The women are also casualties of the war as they were left to run the farms and raise the children. They know very little about their husband; except what is reported in the daily newspaper. My big question is "Will John Reynolds proposal of marriage ever be accepted by Mary Emma McAllister"?These soldiers were the true Americans who made our country great through their courage; bravery and sacrifice!
