Death in 60 Days: Who Silenced Booker T. Washington? - A Nurse's View

audiobook Death in 60 Days: Who Silenced Booker T. Washington? - A Nurse's View by Paulette Davis-Horton in History

Description

The history of the black church in Tuscaloosa could very well be the story of the black church in most of the southern cities in the United States. The purpose of this book is to document a historical progression of the black church in Tuscaloosa and how it has evolved into what it is today. The saga of a stolen; raped; enslaved; and disenfranchised people who took the crumbs of their existence and produced a loaf of hope for their descendents is worth investigating.

Review
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. an icon not an afterthoughtBy William J. ThistlethwaiteSlow going thru the first 3 chapters focusing on the author's biography and connection to Booker T. Picks up quickly after that all the way to the end.She uncovers various anomalies in the reporting of Booker's suddenly deteriorating health and death. Her detective instincts seem keen and her list of suspicious characters reasonable; certainly more than plausible to any who have listened to Steve Cokely's exposes on the Boule. Having read Harold Cruse's Crisis of the Negro Intellectual prepared me w/ a socio-political perspective on the war against authentic black leaders like Booker; Marcus and Malcolm. Booker's formidable legacy has been left untended by the media and the civil rights movement which it promoted. With all the emphasis on Black History in popular culture; why do a lot of people still confuse George Washington Carver w/ Booker T Washington? The guy was an icon not an afterthought.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Thought provocating detailsBy E. HarrisThis was a nurses perspective on the death of Booker T.
