It did a great job of showing me my bias toward western though and eastern though. I was unaware of the giant hole in my knowledge of "the culture in the middle" that has such a profound impact on our world today.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I have struggled with other books on this subject and been bored to tears but felt like I needed a greater understanding of Islam. I can barely put this book down. The writer has you at page one!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Best Insight for Westerners into IslamBy Isaac HaviceDestiny Disrupted is a masterpiece about another world that has existed beside and along the "history" prescribed by the western and European world. I never understood the Islamic world; and often misjudged Muslim people and culture because I saw them from a place in the west. This book places you into their historical narrative and let's you peer into the events and ideas that have shaped the modern Muslim world. It lets you understand who these people are; and what they value. And most importantly; it allows you to see the current world conflict between the West and Islam from both sides. This book should be required reading in all "western" schools. I believe that this world would be vastly different if westerners could understand the Islamic world and its citizens.I wish I could find similar publications for all courses of human history.
