Dictionary of the Ancient Near East

PDF Dictionary of the Ancient Near East by From Brand: University of Pennsylvania Press in History

Description

No religion in the modern world is as feared and misunderstood as Islam. It haunts the popular imagination as an extreme faith that promotes terrorism; authoritarian government; female oppression; and civil war. In a vital revision of this narrow view of Islam and a distillation of years of thinking and writing about the subject; Karen Armstrong’s short history demonstrates that the world’s fastest-growing faith is a much more complex phenomenon than its modern fundamentalist strain might suggest.

HornbogenThis is an excellent reference book for those interested in ancient near east history. The articles have a lot of detail. Includes charts; pictures; references for further reading; and charts at the back listing rulers for Babylonia and Assyria. I recommend it to others who want a virtual encyclopedia in a book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great accompaniment when reading on the topic!By Ruth SanfordThis is so thorough!
