In 2005 a national spotlight was placed upon a mystery of aviation because of They Flew into Oblivion. Having an early and still-unfinished copy of the manuscript; Larry Landsman; SCI-FI Channel's determined Special Projects Director; pushed for a special documentary to be produced by NBC News Productions and then lobbied Congress through Podesta-Matoon; the nation's third largest and influential lobbyist; for formal recognition of the subject of this book in Congress. This culminated in a Resolution in Congress sponsored by Republican E. Clay Shaw of Florida; which passed overwhelmingly on November 17 at 420-2 votes. This recognition was unique in that it honored 14 US Navy airmen who had vanished 60 years before. They were not war heroes. Nor were they on some crucial mission. The war had been over for months; and the flight was merely on a routine training run off the east coast of Florida. The total disappearance of the "Lost Squadron;" "Lost Patrol" or; as it is most frequently called; Flight 19; was a bizarre case if for nothing more than the very number of aircraft that vanished.Paradoxically; however; little is known of the actual incident and the 14 aviators who vanished. Rather than being subjected to serious journalism as in the case of Amelia Earhart or Glenn Miller's disappearance or the destruction of the Hindenberg; Flight 19 became buried in the popular enigma of the "Bermuda Triangle." Any recounting of it was but a vignette designed to link it with the many others that had vanished.Author Gian J. Quasar; the man considered the leading expert in the world on the Bermuda Triangle; however; pulls the flight from the Triangle's clutches to reveal it as a military blunder; a tragedy and an irony. Like an absorbing detective read; They Flew into Oblivion leads the reader through the case and its aftermath and then follows the author on his solution of its mystery and his search for its final resting place. The result is to lay bare the incident once and for all. The trail stops at a federal refuge that will allow no examination of its contents for fear it might disturb the alligators . . . and for fear Flight 19 is indeed inside.

A private look inside the mind of HitlerBy Susanna HutchesonMichael Ford has taken the report; "A Psychological Profile of Adolph Hitler - His Life and Legend"; by Walter C. Langer; and put it in an interesting new presentation. The report; now in the public domain; gives us a good deal of information about the state of Hitler's mind. The original report was written when Hitler was alive and was used by our government - The Office of Strategic Services; Washington; D.C.With the collaboration of-Prof. Henry A. Murr; Harvard Psychological ClinicDr. Ernst Kris; New School for Social Research .Dr. Bertram D. Lawin; New York Psychoanalytic InstituteIn the report we learn:Hitler was found to be "the apotheosis of the little man"; funny looking; self-conscious and unsure of himself. We learn about Hitler's sex life; the fact he does not eat meat; drink or smoke. We see possible reasons. We learn about his habits - the good and the peculiar.About Hitler's speech-giving prowess; we learn:Unquestionably; as a speaker; he has had a powerful influence on the common run of German people. His meetings were always crowded and by the time he got through speaking he had completely numbed the critical faculties of his listeners to the point where they were willing to believe almost anything he said. He flattered them and cajoled them. He hurled accusations at them one moment and amused them the next by building up straw men which he promptly knocked down. His tongue was like a lash which whipped up the emotions of his audience. And somehow he always managed to say what the majority of the audience were already secretly thinking but could not verbalize. When the audience began to respond; it affected him in return. Before long; due to this reciprocal relationship; he and his audience became intoxicated with the emotional appeal of his oratory. (Strasser; 295)On what Hitler's final outcome might be; we learn that the most likely will be:8. Hitler might commit suicide. This is the most plausible outcome. Not only has he frequently threatened to commit suicide; but from what we know of his psychology it is the most likely possibility. It is probably true that he has an inordinate fear of death; but being an hysteric he could undoubtedly screw himself up into the super-man character and perform the deed. In all probability; however; it would not be a simple suicide. He has too much of the dramatic for that and since immortality is one of his dominant motives we can imagine that he would stage the most dramatic and effective death scene he could possibly think of. He knows how to bind the people to him and if he cannot have the bond in life he will certainly do his utmost to achieve it in death. He might even engage some other fanatic to do the final killing at his orders.Hitler has already envisaged a death of this kind; for he has said to Rauschning: "Yes; in the hour of supreme peril I must sacrifice myself for the people."Finally; we learn what the CIA and the psychologists believe will happen to Hitler:"In any case; his mental condition will continue to deteriorate. He will fight as long as he can with any weapon or technique that can be conjured up to meet the emergency. The course he will follow will almost certainly be the one which seems to him to be the surest road to immortality and at the same time drag the world down in flames."Highly recommended.I also highly recommend the great book by John Toland Adolf Hitler: The Definitive Biography. I have the 1st edition; which I love. But any edition will be most useful to you.I also recommend Mein Kampf (The Ford Translation).- Susanna K. Dissecting the Psychiatric mind - a case for a 21st century analysisBy Darth Vindex (A.V.S)ADOLF HITLER VERSUS THE ALLIES.............Over the past few decades ; the notion of clinical psychiatry to have been a kind of 'science'; has been disproved in the estimate of some of those who have conducted some of the most careful research into the field in recent and past times. Clinical psychiatry has been heavily criticized in such works as the Myth of Mental Illness ; because clinical psychiatry aims to target motion per ce - that is ; any motion or activity there is to be found in anything around us. Thus ; a chair may be the object of a psychoanalysis should a clinical psychiatrist desire to analyse it's obviously nonexisting psyche - attempting at the same time to disprove that everything vibrates. The second target of the clinical psychiatrists has been vibration ; the third target teenagehood (called excessively rude names such as adhd (used to define post - teenagehood characteristics) ; aspergers'and so on ; the fourth target has been adulthood - often called such names as 'delusional psychosis'; and 'scizophrenia'. Adulthood ; kidalthood or teenagehood and aspergers'and so on are simply parts of the human condition ; the desire of human beings to live their lives. Admitting this means the end of clinical psychiatry as a movement par excellence. In this book ; however ; attempts are obviously made to continue a long and tiresome tradition of allied propaganda about Herr Adolf Hitler. There is no desire in my review to keep such a propaganda effort against Hitler ongoing. I believe that there is little reason to take all the anti - Hitler claims of anti - revisionism that seriously - exactly who Hitler was ; that is Hitler the man ; rather than Hitler 'the dark messiah'; remains to be known solely by those who know those who knew him or those who are among some of their descendants today. Thus I am not attempting to be overtly critical of clinical psychiatry itself. I will be reading many volumes about it in the future and studied it to some extent when I was in high school. Psychiatry has essentially been part of my life - but fortunately in ways that guaranteed me to use introspection ; innovation and such issues to explore my character and find ways to seek personal enlightenment by unorthodox means. So ; for me ; the horrific ; allied propaganda about Adolf Hitler on one hand and Germany on the other ; is an issue which has been largely dealt with in recent years by those I will consider to be genuine experts on such topics. A good example of highly scholarly work which I consider to be genuine whereas the study of the Holocaust or 'Shoah'as they used to call it in the 20th century and still do so today ; A.R. Butz'book. Another good example of a work I find to be of genuine scholarship is Did Six Million Really Die?In such works ; no attempt is made to analyze Adolf Hitler from a psychiatric perspective. Perhaps my favourite book about Adolf Hitler's psychoanalysis ; is the Psychophantic God ; by Robert G. L. Waite. This book can sometimes be very funny but I do not take it's content litterally. I was not born or raised during Germany's WWII years ; so who am I to judge the profile of some of the most important leaders in Germany and matter of factly ; nazi Germany who were around those years? The idea that Adolf Hitler is insane because clinical psychiatry says so ; is itself insane. The idea that anybody can be insane solely because clinical psychiatry says so ; is also insane. What is sane is ; that such ideas are not expressed in this book. What is expressed ; is nonetheless certain legends which have been continously repeated ever since the allies began to turn against Hitler and the national socialist movement in general ; such as Adolf Hitler's presumed hatred towards Jews. Is there really any evidence to support that Hitler was actually a racist? If there is ; I will ineviteable come accross such evidence in future Hitler and WWII studies - I do not believe myself ; however ; that he was by any means nearly racial in such depictions as have often been made of him in modern and previous allied propaganda. I also believe that he would have considered cooperation with the Union Bank to be detrimental to Germany's banking interests because I believe that he wanted Germany to be independent financially even in a time of crisis such as a war he did not want any part in ; nor anyone else for that matter in Nazi Germany to my knowledge (this has been explored in recent volumes by some authors who have asserted that he supported the Union Bank). Nor do I believe that he was a 'British Agent'; or even 'Stalin's Stooge'; or that he was engaged in some sort of all out war against the occult and astrology (Michael Fitzgerald - Hitler's Occult War). I believe that Adolf Hitler's philosophical weltanshaung ; was an aspect of Jainism. Hitler remarked once about the ancestral beliefs of the Japanese people and felt sorry that the German people did not emphasize as much the importance of such beliefs as did the Japanese. I am also very impressed with the nazis' research into alternative medicine and areodynamics. For far too long ; human beings of various kinds have taken clinical psychiatry so litterally as to practice it as some kind of religious ; fanatical fundamentalism ; resulting in deleterious delusions of grandeur among very numerous cases in the overall psychiatric profession. The result is a collapsed case for the continuance of the practice of psychoanalysis.I am not passing this critique of psychoanalysis of mine from a scientologist's perspective as I am not into scientology. The book's proper title should have been in my view; Dissecting Hitler's Mind. What is good about the book is that people are not asked to believe in the verifiability of any of it's content to my knowledge and the authors appear to be very careful about presenting a psychiatric case for Hitler's mental state in ways that do not request anybody to take anything litterally. Unfortunately nonetheless ; the authors fall by the wayside in their analysis.
