The dozens of maps are well worthwhile - but; I purchased a Kindle copy and I have to say the reproductions leave a bit to be desired. Yes; you can enlarge them; but they become fuzzy very quickly at low magnification. Footnotes are easy to look at as one can flick backwards and forwards very easily. Why can't one do the same with the illustrations? There has to be a better way. However; my main beef is with the quality of the spelling. There are innumerable typos throughout. I don't know whether these are also found in the hard copy but they are a real distraction in the electronic copy.Topic great. Typos terrible. Maps not up to scratch. I have purchased a hard copy of Suarez's other book 'Early Mapping of the Pacific'. Maps much better quality and easier to find. Can't comment on the spelling yet.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy ahigherauthorityThe RARE volume dedicated to illuminating SE Asian cartography. Affordable and Mr. Suarez (as always) is insightful informative.1 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Seems Bigger and BetterBy Howard A. Daniel IIIAfter it arrived; I realized I already owned a previous printing of this book. I have not had time to dig out the earlier printing but this new one seems to be bigger and better. I collect maps of Southeast Asia and this book reminds me of some other maps I would like to find and purchase.
