Finns in Michigan (Discovering the Peoples of Michigan Series)

ePub Finns in Michigan (Discovering the Peoples of Michigan Series) by Gary Kaunonen in History

Description

Roxana's Children is a well-researched and well written biography of Roxana Brown Walbridge Watts (1802-62) and her descendants. The book is constructed from the descendants' 300 preserved letters; 30 diaries; and photographs from the family's village life during 19th-century Vermont. Bonfield and Morrison use these sources to discuss social change and movement in American life.

Good but not greatBy PeterIf you are looking for a book about the Finnish people who migrated to Michigan; but want it short and to the point; than this book is for you. I myself wanted a book with much more details on specific Finnish families in Michigan; to the point of being even useful for genealogy and this wasn't it. A much more detailed book; which also contains more historical pictures; the book 'History of the Finns in Michigan' (Great Lakes Books) by Armas Kustaa Ensio Holmio is a much better option. I also didn't see any addition information contained in this book; than what the 'History of the Finns in Michigan' book had. Hope this review helps.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
