Description

Shirvan; today mainly part of Azerbaijan; existed as an autonomous khanate; under Iranian influence; until 1820; when under pressure from Russia; the khan fled to Iran; and Shirvan was immediately annexed along with two neighbouring khanates. Thus the last independent region in the South Caucasus was now incorporated in Russian territory. In order to enumerate the population and especially to ascertain revenues; a survey was ordered to be conducted. The survey; titled The Description of the Shirvan Province; compiled in 1820; was eventually published in 1867. The number of copies printed was very few; and only a handful of copies now exist. The present work is a translation of the original survey. It details the Christian and Muslim population and the revenues collected from each district and village. Bournoutian’s extensive annotations and explanatory notes provide an accurate picture of the demography and economic conditions of a former Iranian province prior to its incorporation into the Russian Empire.

Excellent bookBy cIm not gonna write a long drawn out review; im just gonna say if you have a fascination with this aircraft then you need to do what it takes to get these books; well almost; i wont pay more than a hundred for each so i try to find them anywhere i can ; they can get pricey sometimes and some sellers are just crazy when it comes to pricing it; the books are awesome though; lots and lots of pictures; just eye candy everywhere!!! lots of info and interviews with old Focke Wulf designers that talk about their experiences when they built this masterpiece;just a awesome experience reading these little jewels by Eddie Creek. add these books to you library; all of them if you can;you'll be the envy of your buddies!!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Four StarsBy DBurleyMuch detail here.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The Ultimate Reference; volume IBy Reinaldo L. AndujarI have read almost every published text on the Focke Wulf FW190 series from the pioneering Profiles till now. I have several other books on this aircraft but this is absolutely the best book regarding the technical details of the aircraft ever. This is the reference for working with all the 1/32d scale models of the FW190A; D; F; and G series. I highly recommend it and look forward to Volume III.
