Unfortunately; I did not learn too much about mine; which seemed to have left from Bavaria.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. GERMANS IN NEW JERSEY: a historyBy Karen ArendtVery informative. Answered a lot of question for me about my German great great great grandfather; and possible reasons for immigrating to New Jersey.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Immigration historyBy CharlotteI enjoyed reading the book on Germans in New Jersey. It is far superior to many history books I have read. The text and quotations are superb. The layout of the chapters guides the reader from the colonial era to present days which is very informative. The wording is excellent - not long-winded but to the point. The excellent choice of photos is complementary to the text. The German clubs described here are a phase in its life that this German generation can identify with. They personify Gemuetlichkeit(Friendliness); music and opulent portions of food at the festivals.A book of this high quality should be read by high school and college students to appreciate reliable history.By writing this book Peter Lubrecht has done a great service not only to the German-American community but to all citizens of the United States.
