Revealing the development of the multi-faceted hovercraft and its many roles; from racing and leisure to travel and rescue The hovercraft was first created in 1959; when Sir Christopher Cockerell came up with a prototype that crossed the English Channel. The SRN1; the first ever hovercraft; is now proudly housed by the Science Museum and this invention enjoys an active role in many arenas. This detailed book delves into the craft's history; from the early days of its development through to its commercial and military applications. It looks into the exciting world of hovercraft leisure; cruising and racing from amateur to Formula 1; and also explores the important role the hovercraft plays in rescues; whether on water or delivering aid around the word in places that helicopters can’t reach. Finally; it details the types of hovercraft in use today; and what the future holds.

A Decent Reference Text on Egyptian MythologyBy War BoarThis book is not the most in-depth text on the Egyptian Gods ever put into print; but offers a reasonable amount of background information on a healthy sampling of Gods; including lesser-known Gods such as Montu; of Whom few scholars write. It makes for enjoyable reading.I would recommend this book to anyone just entering into the realm of Egyptian History and Theology; namely young-adults. Nothing horrendously heady is discussed; but budding minds are introduced to the immensely diverse panoply and its scintillating religion. It is also a light though handy additional reference for informal papers on Egyptian religion for those more familiar with Egyptian Gods and religion (especially for informal papers written on the God Montu -- sources about Him are very hard to find). As someone fairly well-versed in Egyptology; I do enjoy this book; though it is not the best; most comprehensive; or most heavily-referenced text I own. However; this would be among the first books I would think to lend to someone who is very interested in the Egyptian Gods; but knows precious little about Them.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fascinating; informative; insightful reading.By Midwest Book ReviewBarbara Watterson's Gods Of Ancient Egypt explores the main characteristics of ancient Egyptian religions and provides the first book to trace the origins of all the major deities of ancient Egypt. Photos and illustrations provide lavish embellishment for a treatise linking Egyptian history of cultural and spiritual change.
