He has woven a tale about appears at first glance of a series of small unit operations in Northern New Jersey and Westchester County New York. In actually it was a large scale campaign in its own right. It had amphibious operations; naval operations and the movement of over 6000 ground troops of Crown forces out of the environs of New York City. The book illustrated the needs of the Crown forces stationed in New York City of just not simple occupation and subjugation but how to ensure survival and to project forces elsewhere in the colonies but to the Atlantic Provinces and to the islands of the Caribbean. Through quotes from pension records; newspaper reports and first-person accounts of the actions; the reader is given the participants’ view of the movements; raids and day-to-day struggles that both soldiers and citizens endured. The outstanding research is presented in a flowing writing style that educates and entertains.
