Great Atlantic Liners of the Twentieth Century in Color

audiobook Great Atlantic Liners of the Twentieth Century in Color by William H. Miller; Anton Logvinenko in History

Description

The #1 New York Times bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio host offers a unique spin on the life and legacy of founding father George Washington. IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW GEORGE WASHINGTON; THINK AGAIN. This is the amazing true story of a real-life superhero who wore no cape and possessed no special powers—yet changed the world forever. His life reads as if it were torn from the pages of an action novel: Bullet holes through his clothing. Horses shot out from under him. Unimaginable hardship. Disease. Spies and double-agents. And while we celebrate his great heroism and character; we discover he was also a flawed man. It’s those flaws that should give us hope for today. Understanding the very human way he turned himself from an uneducated farmer into the Indispensable (yet imperfect) Man is the only way to build a new generation of George Washingtons who can take on the extraordinary challenges that America is once again facing.

Logvinenko went through a tedious process re-creating each original black and white photoBy Wayne BokumAlthough I already own a dozen or so of Bill Miller's Dover books on ocean liners; I couldn't resist picking up this colorized version of almost every famous liner from the last century. These old black and white photos have been provided a vibrant new dimension in the colorization process. It is evident that Mr. Logvinenko went through a tedious process re-creating each original black and white photo. The results are stunning and believable. As this is essentially a photo book with captions; the only real text is the Foreword and the Introduction. If you are looking for the myriad technical details and stories behind each of these ships you will have to look elsewhere. Nevertheless; this book serves a purpose in preserving and bringing new life to these grand ladies of the sea. My only hope is that this collaboration will continue and the result will be additional books published using the same process.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Many will never know how great the liners looked because black-n-white photos simply leave too much to the imagination! This book helps fill-in the gaps. I.m glad I added it to my liner book collection!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Bill does it again.By R. SpencerAmazing. All the color you've always wanted to see in one delightful book. I have been reading Mr. Miller's books for 30 years and love each and every one of them.
