This is actually a very good book at a very reasonable price for anyoneBy YusufThis is actually a very good book at a very reasonable price for anyone; like myself; new to the subject of the Ikhwan al-Safa. I first became aware of this highly secretive and influential group of thinkers through reading Seyyed Hossein Nasr's; "Introduction to Islamic Cosmological Doctrines." He referenced this book and author several times which prompted me to purchase it; and I'm glad I did.5 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Incomplete overview of ikhwan al-safa...disappointing...By B. SajjadThe author tries to explain the contents of a great piece of literature; Ikwan al-Safa; but was not able to do so effectively. The author either did not understand the original text or did not spend much time researching it.This book tries to explain the content of Ikwan al-safa; chapter by chapter; but in a very minimal fashion. Some sections of the Ikwan al-Safa are simply skipped; declared as being too complex.I wished the author had included some of the original diagrams from ikhwan al-safa and then added his interpretation side by side.
