Short; precise narratives about events and people that shaped the state. An interesting and informative collection about a variety of topics (30 to be precise) including the Toledo War; a dangerous and exciting logging jam; the storm of 1913; building Mackinac Bridge; the "Wedding Capital of the Midwest" and my personal favorite; the Japanese Balloon Bombs! Michigan has a unique 300 year history (200 years before the automobile) and this book brings alive many events that only historians have researched. Each narrative is a mere three pages in length so you get just the bare facts of the story. If you want to learn more; Colleen Burcar has provided a bibliography for each topic to facilitate further research. It's a great book; I highly recommend it!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Neat bookBy CustomerThis is a neat little book for a Michigan lover. I learned things that I never knew about the state and I grew up in Michigan. Even learning Michigan history in school never told of the events in this book. I will read it again and again.
