Your view of ancient history will never be the same again! When one thinks of Sir Isaac Newton; one normally thinks of a great scientist and mathematician. However; one does not normally think of Newton as a historian. Such was the greatness of his intellect; that he found history a pleasant diversion for his idle moments. He drafted a book on the ancient history and the Gentile nations and worked on it periodically for over forty years but never published it. It was published posthumously in 1728; a year after he died. The same genius he applies to other disciplines; Newton brings to bear on ancient history. He notes that all the pagan nations had greatly exaggerated their history; creating much needless confusion. Like a first rate prosecuting attorney; Newton cross-examines the ancient writers; using their own words against them to expose their logical inconsistencies. He then develops a more and sound chronology using the scientific method based on logic; observations; astronomy; and just plain common sense. Newton is not satisfied with merely showing one way of determining a historical date but overwhelms the reader with many independent ways of using the classical data mixed with common sense to establish the approximate date for many important secular historical events. Most of secular ancient history before 700 BC will need a drastic revision in the light of Newton’s findings. As originally written; Newton’s historical work is very difficult for modern readers to understand; but this special edition presents this classic in a format and style suitable for today’s readers.

The term Jihad misused one to many times...By Lost wandererI am an ex-Muslim who converted out of Islam 3 years ago because I was compelled by the power of Christ. But anyways growing up my parents would take me to the Mosque where I would pray and recite lines of the Qur'an. The term Jihad is the most misused term in Islam and in this propaganda book Marvin Yakos misuses it. Marvin Yakos only resources is the US media who tries to get our country to hate our Muslim brothers and sisters by defining the term as "holy war" and to spread Islam all over the world.My fellow Christans take my advice on this... advice from an ex-Muslim. The word Jihad is arabic for "struggle". There's 2 main forms of Jihad there's the inner Jihad and the outter Jihad. The inner Jihad is a Muslims day to day fight against sin. For an example alcohol is a sin in Islam. So lets say that you're an alcoholic who recently converted to Islam. Then your Jihad would be to stop yourself from drinking alcohol. The outter Jihad is when a Muslim country liberates itself. For example the Pallistinians are under occupation from the Israelis so in order to liberate they must fight back BUT when they do they must attack soldiers NOT civilians. So in a sence the Qur'an is corrupted because even Muslims missue the term by thinking they can attack civilians like what the Chechnians did or like what Usama bin Ladden did on 9/11.Also Marvin Yakos tries to give you that idea that Christianity is banned in Islamic countries. He's wrong. As hard as it is to believe Muslims; Christans and Jews live peacefully together (outside of Israel) within some Islamic countries. I remember when I visited Egypt there were actually Christan Churches built right next to Mosques!So anyways when reading this book pray to God that he'll help you shed some light on the meaning of other faiths as well as yours for through God all is possible.1 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Jesus vs. JihadBy A CustomerI think everyone should read this book. It is highly informative and very well written. I learned so much about the actual spiritual warfare that underlies this conflict. It gave me a solid understanding of jihad; the koran; the historical significance; and the very basis for holy war. It also gives a great in-depth explanation of Islam's relationship to Jesus; Israel; and women. Especially after the events of Sept. 11; this book has brought many views up from the depths of the abyss to the view of the public. Another mindfull projection of what will come and how to prevent tragedies in the future through religion; Dr. Marvin Yakos is a genious; a mindfull and creative author who envisions all that is perfection.
