KC-135 Stratotanker Walk Around

ePub KC-135 Stratotanker Walk Around by Kenneth Katz in History

Description

The History of Indian Buddhism is undoubtedly Lamotte's most brilliant contribution to the field of Buddhist exegesis. The work contains a vivid; vigorous and fully-detailed description of early Buddhism and its teachings; the material organization of the Community; the formation and further developments of Buddhist writings; the conciliar traditions; the evolution of Buddhist sculpture and architecture; the origins of the sects; the Buddhist dialects and the constitution of the legends; and sets them in the historical background in which buddhist doctrines originated and expanded in India and in neighbouring countries. Using material evidence provided by Indian epigraphy and archaeological remains on the one hand; and taking into account information supplied by Western (Latin and Greek) and Far Eastern (Tibetan and Chinese) sources on the other; Lamotte has succeeded in producing a lucid and basic book that is unanimously considered as a classic of contemporary Buddhist studies. After thirty years; the work has retained all its value; but; in order to meet the requirements of recent Buddhist scholarship; the book has been supplemented with an additional bibliography; an index of technical terms and revised geographical maps.

Its the pictures you wish you would have taken.By JohnI was a boom operator on this great aircraft back in the late eighties/early nineties and this book is a wonderful stroll down memory lane. I could almost smell the JP-4 (later 8) and transport myself back in time. This book is great because it helps fill in some gaps about the aircraft that your memory lost over the years and it even did a good job of explaining where upgrades and changes where made with the airframe over time (R model conversion; Pacer Crag etc.) I thought it did a good job of pointing out the different versions of engines between the A; E and R models as well. I don't recall if it covered the EC versions and the RT versions we had at my old base or the addition of rollers for cargo; but that is getting pretty down in the weeds for a book with this kind of scope. Great addition to my large military aviation and KC-135 library. A must have for former KC-135 crew dogs; maintainers and enthusiasts. It is all of the pictures you wish you would have taken when you had the chance. Great book. I will definitely get others for my favorite aircraft.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I flew the "A"; "Q"; and "E" models as well as being a CCTS Instructor at Castle AFB; CA. I have more than 4000 hours including more than 550 combat hours flying her.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. KC-135 A-RBy John ScottA nice look at the KC-135 R model with some excellent looks back at the A model that preceded it.
