"Throughout the annals of history time will reveal two great men who were destined to be cultural architects of ...By Billy SandersonI've spent years formally studying leadership that has the power to transform culture earning a Masters in Transformational Leadership. I only wish this new book by Goodie Goodloe was a part of my coursework. Academia needs this resource! Many friends have asked me about this new book so here is my "official" response:"Throughout the annals of history time will reveal two great men who were destined to be cultural architects of change; Martin Luther King Jr. and a man I've grown to admire as one of my closest friends; Goodie Goodloe! The two intersect in the brilliant work by Goodie; King Maker; outlining the eternal and global impact of Martin Luther King Jr. I could not put the book down as I was thrust into the realities of a time and culture where social justice was being addressed with a bravery and courage that must be brought to the forefront of our time.Goodie does what few authors have the skill to accomplish; he incorporates incredulous research and academic genius while communicating his findings in a manner where anyone can comprehend the historical tensions he reveals. Goodie navigates one of the most turbulent times throughout our American history while engaging the reader with such aptitude that you feel you are there marching with the crowds. The reader is taken on an emotional and spiritual journey while experiencing great joy; terrific pain; and ungodly injustice. I was enveloped with the reality of decisions those with influence have on society and how they must never compromise no matter the cost. Yet through it all Goodie wrote with astonishing respect of everyone involved. This book is simply a charge; a charge to all mankind; from the soccer mom to the executive in the boardroom. It is a much-needed call to arms of every tribe and tongue and nation to choose love and peace; conversation instead of violence and the greatest attribute of all; to be a servant to others. When this book becomes a staple in the classroom; office; and around the dinner table; as it should; once again may we as a nation capture the essence of what it means to have a dream!" ‪#‎kingmaker‬ ‪#‎GoodieGoodloe‬ ‪#‎dreammaker‬0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Be clear about the point of the book.By CustomerDr. Goodloe's book makes some interesting points; but I don't think it's well marketed. My group was looking for a book more about Dr. King and we discovered strategies for building relationships with the right people to grow a movement. Dr. Goodloe has lots to share. I hope he finds the right group with which to share it.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Goodloe has clearly committed an amazing amount of time to properly researching the topicBy Matthew T. MurrahAn outstanding combination of historical reflection and modern application of leadership principles.Goodloe is a masterful story teller; bringing the reader face to face with the challenges and opportunities faced by King. In doing so; Goodloe reveals solid leadership principles which can be applied in virtually any context.Goodloe has clearly committed an amazing amount of time to properly researching the topic; revealing interesting nuggets of detail about King's life and work. The breadth and depth of research is apparent and lends immediate credibility to the leadership principles covered in this work.Given the depth of research; this book is still an easy read; as Goodloe presents the material in the form of story (parables; if you will); so the reader can come and go; or jump from chapter to chapter; without losing context.A great read for anyone interested in adapting their own leadership style to a rapidly changing culture.
