This Book is a Gripping Account of the Murky World of the Anglo-American Oil Industry and its Hidden Role in World Politics. -- William Engdahl takes the reader through the history of how seven giant oil companies - five American and two British - developed a controlling grip on the world's economy unprecedented in history. This is no ordinary history of oil. It is a history of global politics; more precisely of global geopolitics - how control of strategic geographical pivot regions first British and later American interests to control in large part the world economy. -- The book sheds light for the first time on such events as the 1973 oil shock - a sudden 400% rise in the price of the world's most essential commodity in a matter of weeks. What William Engdahl reveals; with flawless documentation; will shock most people. The implications are even more devastating. He also documents how oil played an essential role in the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union; in the rise and fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan; in the US occupation of Iraq and countless other events not normally understood in such a light.

When you work for years on a mathematical theorem; a painting; a novel; etc.; you do not throw it into the garbage basket just when it is ready. That is you don't unless you are a politician or an accountant. I like the book not only because it tells the political-technical story of Lavi fully but subjectively too from the point of view of people who love and understand aviation as a form of art. Zakheim's book was written by someone who wanted to kill the Lavi project; it was interesting but disturbing for me. There was no appreciation of achievements of the Lavi project at all in that book. Golan's book will enable future generations to not to miss the "achievement" side of the issue. Excellent book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great BookBy Kenneth MathewsGreat book. Sad outcome - Anti-Israel bureaucrats ultimately succeed in killing a great fighter development project jointly funded by the US and Israel. The contrast between the hard work; passion; and the achievements of Israeli engineers and the dishonest and underhanded tactics of the program's opponents is clear throughout the book. Definitely a book to buy!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Work on History and Aero DynamicsBy Faith McCannWonderfully written; such expertise and historical knowledge.
