What was the early Church like? Contrary to popular belief; Rod Bennett shows there is a reliable way to know. Four ancient Christian writers--four witnesses to early Christianity --left us an extensive body of documentation on this vital subject; and this book brings their fascinating testimony to life for modern believers. With all the power and drama of a gripping novel; this book is a journey of discovery of ancient and beautiful truths through the lives of four great saints of the early Church--Clement of Rome; Ignatius of Antioch; Justin Martyr; and Irenaeus of Lyons.

I wish I could give it 6 stars:)By AnthonyOhioThis is one of the MOST emotional books that I have read. Each chapter specifically covers 1 person. Each chapter is 3 to 5 pages long. As a result; each chapter gets straight to the point; sets the stage for the person; and tugs at your heart. I am about 10 people in and have cried about as many times. The author paints a vivid picture; the person in each chapter is not only eloquent; but a true patriot to their state. This is one of the best books that I have read and I highly recommend it. Each tale is a heart wrenching story of Courage and Fortitude! I LOVE how the author brought forth such stories of strength that otherwise would have languished in the dusty annals of letters and journals. Excellent Job!!!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. great bookBy Jeff loftonthis is a great bo ok and tells the stories of brave men and there beliefs and also tells history i never new;i think every one should teach there children morals these men had.
